1. Based on your reflections, and on a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being optimal wellbeing), where do you rate your A-physical wellbeing, B-spiritual well-being, C-psychological well-being? Why?
For my physical wellbeing, I would say that I am about a 6, which means I have a lot room for improvement. I need to add more physical activity into my daily routine. I keep saying that I will do it but I never seem to get around to it.
For my spiritual well-being, again I would give myself a 6. I need to spend more time in the bible. How can I say that I love God when I hardly spend anytime getting to know Him. I probably spent 3 out of 7 days reading my bible in the morning, this I know I need to do better.
For my psychological well-being, I would give myself an 8. I feel mentally “happy” most of the time.
2. Develop a goal for yourself in each area (physical, spiritual, psychological).
My goal for physical and psychological wellbeing is to start Tai Chi. For my spiritual well-being, I planned on being faithful to my bible reading. I am striving for at least 5 /per week.
3. What activities or exercise can you implement in your life to assist in moving toward each goal?
For my bible reading, I like to dedicate time after breakfast to reading 1 chapter a day. I know it will take a long time to get through the book but at least I will get there.
For my physical and psychological well-being, I would like for my husband to be apart of this exercise. This way we can keep each other accountable.
4. Complete the relaxation exercise The Crime of the Century.
Another sleepy exercise…I think I nodded off a few time. I did this exercise in my Stress Management class last term. I did not like this exercise as much as the one we all did last week. I am more of a visual person, visual in a sense that I am imagining myself in another place. It was hard to keep track of what color I was supposed to be focusing on. However, I can see that this exercise might be helpful to some people. The seven colors are along the line of Charkas approach to healing.

Hello Maggie!
ReplyDeleteIt is so hard to find time to exercise. I was so good about exercising before taking on school. So my goal is to increase it when I am done with school. I am currently walking with my husband after dinner on nice days. This is always a challenge becasue of the weather. Cleveland, Ohio never gives me the weather I want.Good luck with the exercise.
I think reading the bible and eating breakfast is a great way to start the day. It helps you wake up and then feel great all day long!
Best of luck to you on your journey!
Amanda
Maggie,
ReplyDeleteDidn't we talk about exercise semester before last? Don't make me drive over there!! Just do it!!
I cannot imagine squeezing anymore reading into my life so...kudos to you for taking on a chapter each morning. I personally need an interpretor for the bible. It is so hard to understand
I haven't done the relaxation exercise yet but I think I will be with you. Imagining a color seems odd, my home is full of colors, why can't I just stare at one?
Answering your text next, moon pie girl!!
Have a great weekend!
Michelle
So we should get together sometime then- You've got the psychological thing down and I have the physical thing down :)
ReplyDeleteNow that I think of it-- that's probably what I should've been looking for when I got married> a man with opposing well beings> that could've been very beneficial.
As for the spiritual area, I don't know if reading the bible makes a person MORE spiritual (although it is a step in the process) I read the bible every night...maybe skip once or twice a month. I love the stories, but I get very confused and can think of MANY different ways to interpret what it is meaning. Maybe when I reach a higher level in the spiritual area readings won't be as confusing;)
Hey Maggie,
ReplyDeletewhen it comes to exercise I think we all need a little improvement; so hang in there, I know you can do it. And with the relaxation exercise,I too was nodding off, I guess I was tired and couldn't focus this time. But I like the other exercise we did last week also.
BOY DO I NEED HELP WITH EXERCISE. I WAS GOING TO GO TO GYM TODAY BUT BOW IT OFF.NOW TOMARROW I HAVE NO CHOICE I HAVE A WORKOUT WITH A TRANNIER AT MY GYM...FAINTS.....HE IS GOING TO KILL ME...GOOD LUCK AND THANK YOU I ENJOYED READING YOUR BLOG
ReplyDeleteMaggie,
ReplyDeleteYour approach to psychological and physical wellbeing is a good one. I think that Tai-Chi is great. I personally have not tried Tai-chi but i have heard many good things about it. Convincing your husband to join you for the activity is a great idea, this way you motivate each other for better healty and more. You stated how can you love god if you do not take the time to know him, you have a point. By reading your post i must agree that i need to do the same. I may try to live by his commandments and stuff but i do not go to church as much as i would like to, i do not read the bible at all, so i guess this is telling me that i REALLY need to start. =)
Maggie, Great post I wish that I had it as much together as you!! I too need to start reading my bible more. I feel like I know nothing about the bible stories and that if I did I would somehow become closer to God. I will do better to make daily Bible readings a priority. Thanks for the idea.
ReplyDeleteHi Maggie,
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to learn Tai Chi for the longest. I have to get serious and do that this time. I kinda dozed off a bit at the exercise, but I think because I listened to it after work and Monday was a crazy day. I did not pay much attention on the colors because I was so relax (or tired) and I just felt good after that. I had the energy to do my school work after.
Enjoyed reading your blog and good luck.
