I just got done listening to the "Journey On Relaxation Exercise". I probably shouldn't have listened to it so late in the night. The voice on this guided imagery is so soothing and calm that I almost fell asleep. I must admit that at the end of this exercise I did feel energized and relaxed at the same time. My arms did feel heavy and warm. It was difficult to move when he suggested on moving them. I feel that this is a wonderful relaxation technique that can be done anywhere and anytime (not while you are driving,of course). I agree with the speaker when he said that muscle tension is the number one symptom of stress. This is a wonderful stress buster.

This is a wonderful stress buster, it is a similiar to one I use when I get into bed at night. It seems that is the time my mind likes to remind me of what I didn't accomplish today and how much more I will need to do tomorrow. Naturally, I just direct the blood away from the thinking brain and into the relaxation of the limbs!
ReplyDeleteI actually did fall asleep because I did it late at night and the voice was so soothing it just put me to sleep! I know when I get stessed my neck and shoulders always tense up and I do actually get hot stone massages often although they are pricey for that reason. It is great though learning how to de-stress because it is easy to become overwelmed by all that needs to be done on a regular basis. Sometimes it just feels like work work work and then I wind up run down and sick which isn't good.
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful stress buster! I have used it several times and everytime it works wonders for me!! It helps me fall asleep at night too!
ReplyDeleteHi Maggie, I am glad you said that because I also almost feel asleep. Thanks for the picture, I love to connect a name with a face. I also agree with your idea of holistic healing. I try to be really careful with my diet, although the Easter Bunny was oh so kind at our house and I feel like I overdosed on candy yesterday. I really need to practice what I preach!
ReplyDeleteHi Maggie, I know how you felt because I listened to the exercise of relaxation after coming off a long trip and I was tired and I had a headace and my feet was also aching; I needed rest, but i knew i had to do the assignment. But when I started listening and my arms did get heavy and then my body just totally went into relxation mode and I felt so great that I thought I was being hypnotize(lol). But after the exercise I had a lot energy to do more things around the house instead of trying to find a bed to get some rest. Wow i will use this exercise when I take an exam to de-stress myself. This was a very good exercise and I glad it relaxed you Maggie.
ReplyDeleteHey Maggie...
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one who was REALLY relaxed during the exercise. The only difference is I fell asleep. Muscle tension is the worst thing ever. I suffer from muscle tension whenever I am super stressed out: my shoulders and lower back are the worst. I took a course last term that helped with relaxation and I learned different techniques that helped. This class is adding to those techniques and I love it. We can't learn enough when it comes to learning how to relax.
